Licence services are available only by making an appointment
Oulu Police Department is introducing a new appointment-only system for licence services as of 10 December 2012. The change affects all police stations and service points: Oulu, Haukipudas, Liminka, Muhos and Vaala.
Make an appointment online at www.police.fi | instructions
The new electronic appointments system means that customers no longer have to queue for licence services at the police station.
Make an appointment as soon as possible
Please note that it takes at least 1 - 3 weeks depending on the type of licence for your document to be ready. Therefore it is important that you make an appointment as soon as possible. A normal passport, for example, takes around one week. Licences and permits for foreigners can take as long as 3 - 4 months.
No appointment is needed for collecting processed passports, processed driving licences and other processed documents; just take a number and wait for your turn:
- Haukipudas, Liminka and Oulu: Mon, Wed - Fri 8 - 16 and Tue 8.30 - 16
Please note Friday 22.11.2013: Haukipudas and Liminka 8 - 13.30, Oulu 8 - 14.
- Muhos: Fri 9 - 9.30
Please note Friday 22.11.2013: Muhos is closed Fri 22.11.2013 and whole December.
- Licences and permits for foreigners, Oulu central police station: Mon, Wed - Fri 8 - 11, Tue closed
- Vaala Mon - Tue 9 - 9.30

The new appointment-only system does not apply to fast-track and express passport applications.
