Helsinki Police Department

Welcome to the Police Day at Esplanadi Park on Saturday 30 August from 12 noon to 3 pm!

Find out what it feels like to sit on a police motorcycle and get to know police horses? The Police Day on 30 August will once again provide a great deal of police-themed activities. The Maltti and Valtti characters of TV fame will entertain kids at Esplanadi Park. Kids can also take part in a drawing competition at the park; the main prize is a couple of hours of getting to know the mounted police at the Ruskeasuo stables. The event also has activities for parents and time for relaxed chatting with the police.

Balloons will be handed out at the park, and the first one thousand people will also get a foldable police vehicle toy. Get there early to make sure you get yours! See you there!

The direct telephone numbers of the Helsinki Police Department will change on 22 May

EU citizen registrations get their own queue until the end of the year

The Helsinki Police Department has a dedicated queue operated with queue numbers for the registration of European Union citizens at the Pasila Police Station 2. The queue will serve EU citizens from Monday to Friday between 12:40 and 3:15 p.m.

The dedicated queue aims to ease the congested customer service. Other applications will continue to be handled by appointment. The exception to the rule are completed documents which may be picked up from the INFO queue without an appointment.

Helsinki Police will handle licence matters by appointment

Helsinki Police will handle licence matters by appointment. The arrangement applies to both Finnish and foreign licence matters (driving licences, passports, identity cards with a photo, and permits and licences for firearms). For making an appointment, use the service available at the website of the Finnish Police.

You may also visit Permits and Licensing Services without booking an appointment. However, it is recommended for you to book an appointment for smooth service. If you do not book an appointment, please prepare for extensive queuing. Please note that the queuing times of permit service locations (when you have not booked an appointment) vary between 30 minutes and three hours. At Pasila's customer service, there is a display showing the day-specific queuing time.

If you do not have the equipment for making the appointment, you can make the appointment at the foyer of Pasila Police Building 2 where necessary equipment is available for the public. You can also make the appointment by calling 0295 418 180 (between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.). Please note that this number is only for making appointments for licence matters and not for enquiries.
